SKOPJE, 26.11.2025: The chamber orchestra Profundis will perform as part of the off-program of the most prestigious Macedonian arts festival – Ohrid Summer Festival, which this year, for the first time, will be presented to the Skopje audience. The concert will take place on 29 November, in the Grand Hall of the Macedonian Philharmonic, in the recognizable candlelight atmosphere, illuminated by thousands of candles – an ambience that has become a contemporary global symbol of intimate, emotional, and visually striking musical experiences.
This unique concept, which combines minimal light with maximum musical expression, allows listeners to focus on every sound, every breath of the instruments, and every subtle dynamic nuance created by the ensemble.
“It is a great honour that Ohrid Summer entrusted Profundis with the premiere of its off-program in Skopje. I believe this concert will be special not only because of the ambience, but also because of the way the music will resonate – sincere, focused, and deeply intentional. Our goal is to create a space where sound and light exist in perfect dialogue, allowing the audience to feel that quiet yet powerful magic that makes music truly unforgettable,” said Maestra Gjurgjica Dašić, conductor of Profundis.
A particular honour for the orchestra is the collaboration with the exclusive guest soloist, cellist Petar Pejčić, one of the most promising young European artists, finalist of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition, and a soloist who already performs with leading orchestras across Europe.
The audience will have the opportunity to experience a carefully curated program that unites the contemplative minimalist aesthetics of Philip Glass through the suite from The Hours, the dramatic expressiveness and virtuosity of David Popper’s Hungarian Rhapsody Op. 68, as well as the elegance, wit, and romantic depth of *Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations. Together, these works form a musical whole rich with dynamism, subtle emotion, and impeccable artistry—perfectly suited for the solemn candlelight ambience.
This concert is an extraordinary opportunity for the Skopje audience to experience the artistic identity of Profundis—an orchestra that, through continuous dedication, authenticity, and high performance standards, is steadily building its place on the Macedonian and regional music scene.
The Profundis Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2019 under the direction of conductor Gjurgjica Dašić. Since its establishment, the orchestra has set high standards of performance quality and artistic innovation, gathering some of the most prominent Macedonian instrumentalists across generations. The vision of Profundis is to create a professional chamber ensemble dedicated to performing complex and challenging works of the classical repertoire, while also including premieres of contemporary compositions.
The orchestra actively supports Macedonian performers and composers, and through its concerts brings world-renowned names in classical music who enrich its repertoire.
Profundis is recognized for its originality and innovative approach, following the highest standards of European and international chamber orchestras. In its short yet rich history, the orchestra has performed in prestigious venues and at renowned festivals such as Kotor Art, Sofia Music Weeks, Sorrento Music Festival, and Ravanelius, in Italy, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Montenegro. Its performances in Macedonia are already regarded as cultural events of national and international significance.
Petar Pejčić is one of the finest young cellists of his generation, distinguished by his artistic maturity and creative expression. Born into a musical family, he began cello lessons at the age of four and continued his education in Germany at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig, studying under Prof. Peter Bruns. He is currently a student at the prestigious Kronberg Academy in the class of Prof. Frans Helmerson.
Petar is the recipient of numerous awards from international competitions, including top recognition at the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Belgium), as well as first prizes in competitions in Finland and Spain. His technical mastery and emotional depth position him as one of the most remarkable young musicians on today’s scene.
He performs on a cello crafted by Giuseppe Guarneri “filius Andreae” (1694, Cremona), generously loaned by the Beare’s International Violin Society.

A pioneering chamber orchestra known for its innovative and captivating performances that blend classical and contemporary music.
